Vyakti Kee Valli is a delight

Viacom18 Motion Pictures recently released an impressive biopic in Marathi, Aani… Dr Kashinath Ghanekar (2018), based on the life of famed thespian Kashinath Ghanekar.

The production house is now back with another biopic — Bhaai: Vyakti Kee Valli — based on the life of the great Marathi literary figure and artist Purushottam Laxman Deshpande aka PL Deshpande. The film has three actors playing Deshpande at various stages of his life: Saksham Kulkarni plays the younger Deshmukh, Sagar Deshmukh plays the adult version, while veteran actor Vijay Kenkre essays the role of the elderly Deshpande.

Going by the recently released trailer, the film holds promise of being another impressive biopic in Marathi.

Deshpande was known as a humorist since he always made his listeners laugh through his stories. He was also an artist, actor, music composer, script writer, playwright and a radio personality. The trailer, however, suggests that the film will focus more on his personal life and his relationship with his second wife Sunita Thakur (played by Iravati Harshe). His first wife Sundar (played by Mrunmayee Deshpande) passed away soon after their marriage.

The trailer is filled with light-hearted moments that make you smile. Deshpande’s witty character and Deshmukh’s passionate portrayal leave you impressed. The joyous background music adds to the positives.

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Bhaai: Vyakti Kee Valli has been made in two parts. The first part will be released on 4 January 2019, while the second part will hit the screens on 8 February 2019.
