Digital is the way to go, especially when the opportunities on the silver screen begin to dry up. Actors Tusshar Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat have kept a low profile on the big screen in the last few years. The duo is now tipped to feature together in an upcoming web-series that will be produced by Ekta Kapoor and streamed on Balaji Telefilms’ digital platform, ALTBalaji.
A reliable source close to the project informed, “The web-series is untitled yet. It is a horror comedy that has Tusshar Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat in the lead cast. The other cast members include Sanjai Mishra, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda. It will be directed by Farhad Samji and will be streamed on ALTBalaji. Earlier, there were plans to shoot in Goa and Dubai, but right now the series is currently being filmed in Mira Road [Mumbai suburb].”
An official announcement is likely to be made in the near future. A spokesperson for Kapoor confirmed that the actor has commenced shooting for a web-series for ALTBalaji, but refused to share any other details.
Sherawat and Kapoor have worked together just once in director Talat Jani’s Jeena Sirf Mere Liye (2002). Kapoor was paired opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan, while Sherawat had played the role of Sonia.
It’s a maiden foray for Tusshar and Sherawat in the digital space.
In June last year, Sherawat had turned producer after she had announced the Indian adaptation of American TV series, The Good Wife. Sherawat was to play the lead in it, with the show also lined up for digital streaming later.
Tusshar was last seen in the film Golmaal Again (2017), while Sherawat’s last work in Hindi cinema was the film Dirty Politics (2015).
