To avoid clashing with Super 30 again, Ekta Kapoor pushes Jabariya Jodi to 2 August

The arrival of Hrithik Roshan-led Super 30 on 12 July has led to another spate of musical chairs for film releases. While the now Vikas Bahl film was moved to the date of 12 July to avoid a clash with the Ekta Kapoor-produced Mental Hai Kya, its new release put it on the same date as another Ekta Kapoor production, Jabariya Jodi. In view of their friendship, Kapoor has moved Jabariya Jodi to 2 August.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the information on social media earlier in the day.

Kapoor herself confirmed the news on social media with the information about the film.

Super 30 was initially slated to release in November 2018, but the Me Too controversy around director Vikas Bahl led the makers to move the film into 26 January 2019.

However, this meant that the film would clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika:The Queen of Jhansi (2019). But the film was postponed on account of some post-production work, to 26 July.

As luck would have it, the Hrithik Roshan-starrer faced another clash with Kangana Ranaut since her film Mental Hai Kya was also scheduled for the same date. This resulted in a salvo on social media from Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, on Roshan’s decision.

Eventually, Mental Hai Kya producer Ekta Kapoor and Roshan decided to talk and Roshan agreed to move the film to 12 July.

It seems that the decision has not come without cost for Kapoor. It meant that the Balaji Films head honcho had to move another production, Jabariya Jodi, to 2 August.

The film, directed by Prashant Singh, and featuring Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, is set around the drama of groom kidnappings in Bihar. The film is now set to enjoy a solo release after quite a tug of war.
