Ranveer Singh runs into copyright wrangle with Paul Heyman

Ranveer Singh has a new competitor for his drama. The actor has been threatened with litgation by Paul Heyman, manager of WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, for using the latter’s catchphrase. Ranveer Singh had used it in a tweet he posted with Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya.

Ranveer Singh used the quote, ‘Eat. Sleep. Dominate. Repeat’ when he posted a picture with Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya on 18 June.

Little did the actor know that the tweet would catch the attention of Heyman, who would be none too pleased at the similarity with his own copyrighted catchphrase for Brock Lesnar, ‘Eat. Sleep. Conquer. Repeat’.

Heyman took to Twitter straightaway to threaten the Simmba (2018) star with litigation.

Heyman even confirmed sending Ranveer Singh a notice for his use of the catchphrase on Twitter,  saying, “I didn’t just warn. I served noticed (sic).”

Considering the popularity of World Wrestling Entertainment in India, it was no surprise that the tiff went viral. Even WWE India shared an update on its social media platform.

While it is not known yet if this is just another marketing gimmick, several Indian members of WWE stepped in for Ranveer Singh asking Heyman to forgive the trespass.

Ranveer Singh is currently in Scotland shooting for Kabir Khan’s ’83. The film revolves around India’s unlikely triumph in the cricket World Cup in 1983, with the star playing the role of India captain Kapil Dev.
